CHF International to lead the four-year, $40 million cooperative effort By Christine A. Terada, Washington File Staff Writer President Bush’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief has selected a consortium of nongovernmental organizations to work toward providing sustain-able HIV/AIDS services in Rwanda, according to an October 14 press release from CHF International. Through a four-year, $40 million cooperative agreement, the consortium of four U.S. organizations, led by CHF (Cooperative Housing Foundation) International, will work with local Rwandan partners to implement the Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Program (CHAMP). New Program Champions Sustainable HIV/AIDS Services in Rwanda The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief has selected a consortium led by CHF International to implement the Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Program (CHAMP) in Rwanda. This four-year, U.S. $40 million cooperative agreement will work to provide Rwandan communities with equitable access to high-quality and sustainable HIV/AIDS services. Success Story from Serbia: Public Speaking for Improved Health After a series of successful workshops on media performance, implemented at end of April 2004 by USAID and CHF in Belgrade, CHF International/ Srbija presented two workshops for medical professionals and media representatives from the entire CRDA territory as a part of the Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH) program. Media representatives were introduced to the most important FP/RH topics, particularly those that the five CRDA implementing partners are working on this year. The main goal of the second workshop, for medical professionals involved in the FP/RH program, was to improve their ability to interact with the media and assure dissemination of accurate FP/RH information to the people of Serbia. “On Heroin” Theatrical Performance Draws Large Crowds in Termez CHF International, Counterpart International and Population Services International in cooperation with the Youth Charter Action Committee in Termez organised four performances of the dramatic performance “On Heroin” at the Termez Puppet Theatre on 17-18 January.
