Global Communities Welcomes Lonna T. Milburn, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Programs

Milburn, Ph.D., has joined Global Communities as Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Programs. Milburn is an experienced executive in international resource mobilization and development in more than 50 countries.

In her new role, Milburn will oversee business development and programs for Global Communities, an international nonprofit organization with programs in more than 20 countries. Most recently, she served as Senior Director to the Chief Operations Officer at Creative Associates International, where she re-engineered company business and knowledge management practices. Her work targeted youth, economic empowerment, education, crime/violence prevention, CVE, and transitioning countries throughout Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. Milburn spearheaded initiatives advising executives of NGOs and SMEs on sustainable business practices that have resulted in their development impact at the local and national levels in Africa and Asia. Milburn has also served in executive positions for RTI International, Management Sciences for Health, and Abt Associates.

Lonna has won multiple honors and awards, the George Michaels Award for Entrepreneurship, fellowships with the National Institutes of Health, the Bush Foundation, and the American Legion, and Duke University’s Global Executive MBA Scholarship. Milburn noted that Global Communities “stands in a unique position to capitalize on the development world’s emphasis on local solutions and sustainable development.
