The Farmer Field School is a group-based learning process that was implemented through the USAID Higa Ubeho program to promote environmental friendly agriculture practices at the community level. The schools bring together concepts and methods from agro-ecology, experiential education and community development. As a result, hundreds of producers in Rwanda have been able to improve their crop yields. The Farmer Field Schools have produced other developmental benefits, for example many FFS´s members are involved in a wide-range of self-directed activities including sales, marketing as well as internal saving and lending.
