CRUSH: CHF's Rubble Recycling Program in Haiti

July 20, 2011 — CHF International with USAID funds has removed close to half a million cubic meters of rubble from affected areas since it started operation after the January 12th Earthquake that hit Haiti. The estimate by the US Army Corps of Engineers is that the earthquake created an overall 10 million cubic meters of rubble and from that it is reported that about 2 million cubic meters has been removed up to now. Thus, of the total removed to date, CHF has been responsible for 24%. CHF's CRUSH program has succeeded in recycling more than 20,000 cubic meters of this rubble created by demolishing buildings damaged by the earthquake.
